Congratulations to our Rockland BOCES Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) Welding and Fabrication students, winners of the ESAB North America Victor “Rulers of the Flame” cutting and welding competition! Their intricate logo design demonstrated superb skill and ability and impressed judges. We are so proud of this talented team: Tom McKenna (South Orangetown Central School District), Robert Himelfarb (Nanuet Union Free School District), Kevin Onderdonk (Rockland BOCES Adult Education), Robert Shields and Tyler Moore (Clarkstown Central School District).

Sponsored by oxy-acetylene torch manufacturer ESAB North America, the annual contest involves student welders crafting a unique design of the Victor logo. Following the win, CTEC Welding instructor Andrew Saweikis accepted $8,000 in new industry tools and safety equipment for the program. Thank you to our partners at ESAB and AWISCO for supporting the industry’s next generation of skilled workers. Rockland BOCES CTEC courses provide opportunities to learn real-world skills, explore different careers and interests, earn college-level credits and prepare for a competitive job market.
