Congratulations to Zoe Petrou, our Rockland BOCES Jesse J. Kaplan School “MOVER of the Month” for March! Often referred to as “The Mayor of Kaplan,” Zoe exudes happiness and greets everyone with a smile while navigating the halls.
Her mobility and independence have improved consistently through the MOVE™ program. She turns corners with ease and requires minimal assistance while walking long, straight distances. Zoe has exceeded her MOVE “sit to stand” transition goal and can repeat this motion up to 20 times. Her determination, focus and overall attitude make her a pleasure to work with.
Kaplan’s MOVE™ (Mobility Opportunities via Education) program combines therapy and education to teach children with physical disabilities and complex needs the functional skills of sitting, standing and walking. MOVE™ aims to give children an opportunity to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. Every child deserves the right to MOVE™.
