Congratulations to Miriam Isenberg, our Rockland BOCES Jesse J. Kaplan School “MOVER of the Month” for March! Miriam came to Kaplan about a year ago – just before the start of the pandemic – and has already made significant strides.

With the help of her teacher Joan Tisbee, Miriam has shown much less resistance when using the gait trainer. She can now walk the hallways with more confidence and, at times, independently to the bus. “Miriam shows a desire to get up and walk on her own,” said Joan. “She has just made some amazing progress and adjusted extremely well to her new classroom.” We are so proud of all Miriam has accomplished so far!

Kaplan’s MOVE™ (Mobility Opportunities via Education) program combines therapy and education to teach children with physical disabilities and complex needs the functional skills of sitting, standing and walking. MOVE™ aims to give children an opportunity to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. Every child deserves the right to MOVE™.

Contact the Rockland BOCES Jesse J. Kaplan School at (845) 627-4797 to learn how MOVE™ can help someone in your life.
