Congratulations to Brendan Campanella, our Rockland BOCES Jesse J. Kaplan School “MOVER of the Month” for May! With the help of his posterior walker, Brendan has shown increased endurance and enthusiasm while navigating the hallways. He has made great use of our facilities – visiting the sensory playground to socialize with students and staff and walking on the HydroWorx underwater treadmill to help improve leg strength.

Brendan also enjoys his independence in the classroom, where he uses arm supports or the desk to get up to wash his hands and participate in activities. “He has made great strides through the MOVE™ program,” said teacher Lauren Farsetta. “Brendan perseveres with his tasks and is proud of his accomplishments.” Keep up the great work!

Kaplan’s MOVE™ (Mobility Opportunities via Education) program combines therapy and education to teach children with physical disabilities and complex needs the functional skills of sitting, standing and walking. MOVE™ aims to give children an opportunity to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. Every child deserves the right to MOVE™.
