Regional Academic Summer School
Rockland BOCES’ Regional Academic Summer School strives to provide outstanding services to our districts that support the needs of the district and their students. The purpose of the Rockland BOCES Summer School programs is to offer students in grades 7-12 who have failed a course an additional opportunity to successfully complete it.

Q1: Is transportation provided?
Some districts provide transportation for their students. Please contact your school district’s transportation office regarding the location and times for student pick-up and drop-off. If your district does not provide transportation, the parent and/or student is responsible for transportation to/from summer school. Student parking is also available on site for Regional Summer School students.
Q2: What is the attendance policy?
Students are expected to attend classes and be present for the entire class period. There are no “excused absences” such as illness, vacation, sporting events, camps, etc. Students that lose more than six (6) attendance participation points during the summer will not earn a course grade and their home school will be notified.
Absence = Loss of 2 points
Tardy 15+ minutes = Loss of 2 points
Tardy less than 15 minutes = Loss of 1/2 point

Q3. My child needs to take medication at school. What do I need to do?
A school nurse will be available for student emergencies and/or medical needs. Please complete and return the Student Emergency Information and Health History form on the first day of summer school. If you need to speak with the nurse regarding your child’s medical needs, please contact the Summer School Main Office between 7:30-11:30am at (845) 942-7501.
Q4. What are the August 2023 Regents test dates?
Wednesday, August 16 and Thursday, August 17.

Q5. Where is Regional Academic Summer School located?
Fieldstone Middle School, 100 Fieldstone Drive, Thiells, NY 10984. Office hours are from 7:30-11:30am, Monday through Friday, July 5-August 15, 2023.
Q6. How do I register for classes?
Contact your home school’s guidance office for dates and times to register. From July 5-10, report to the Regional Academic Summer School Guidance Office between 7:30-11:30am with report card, IEP (if applicable), photo ID and payment (money order or bank check, if applicable) made payable to: Haverstraw-Stony Point CSD.
Out of District/Private School Info
Students not attending a participating school district but whose parents reside in a participating school district MUST:
- Obtain a letter on school letterhead signed by their home school principal which states the necessary courses and includes the student’s NYS student ID number.
- Register (and make payment, if applicable) in the high school or middle school guidance office in your participating district. Students can also register at the summer school office between 7:30-11:30am beginning on July 5.
- Students MUST bring photo ID, copy of report card, copy of IEP/504 (if applicable) and bank check/money order (if applicable) in order to register.
- Office hours at Regional Academic Summer School are 7:30-11:30am, Monday through Friday, from July 5-August 15, 2023. The Summer School office will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.

Q8. When will Regional Academic Summer School run?
Classes: Monday, July 10 to Tuesday, August 15, 2023.
Local exams: Wednesday, August 16 and Thursday, August 17, 2023.
Q9. What are the session times for Regional Academic Summer School?
1st period: 8-9:40am
2nd period: 9:45-11:25am
3rd period: 11:30am-1:10pm
On the first day of summer school (July 10), students need to report at 7:45am for an updated schedule. Students may not select class periods.
Q10. When are the registration deadlines for Regional Academic Summer School?
Summer School 6-week course: 11:30am between July 5-10 at Rockland BOCES CTEC.
Q11. When will final grades be mailed home?
Grades will be mailed to the students home school and home by August 23.
Q12. What time should my child report on the first day and what should they bring?
All students should report to school at 7:45am to pick up their most updated schedule. Students should also give their teacher the Student Discipline Statement, Attendance Policy and Emergency Information & Health History form by (date TBA).
